Roosevelt Officers after they won the Fundraising Challenge |
Des Moines, IA & Sioux City, IA – Des Moines and Sioux City area schools attended Officer Training Days held by the Best Buddies Iowa office for their chapters in late September and early October.
During the course of the day, Lead Program Manager, Katie Glenn along with State Director, Missy Collins, and Program Manager, Kari Gronemeyer assisted the Officer Corps with learning new and improved ways of running a successful chapter of Best Buddies.
The groups went through a series of tasks such as problem solving in the chapter, learning chapter roles for the school year, as well as how to match the perfect Buddy Pair and utilize the Buddy Director for different events and activities.
At the Des Moines training, the students participated in simulated exercises to help learn and act out a proper Donation/Fundraiser pitch to different area stores.
Each group of Officers was to devise a plan for a fundraiser and ask the local stores for donations using the tools they were provided with for guidance.
Guest facilitators acted as company representatives for this simulation. The group that received the most in-kind and monetary donations won a prize.
The Sioux City chapters were able to discuss different activities that each chapter holds throughout the year and devise an actual plan for the Prom they hold every year for their areas chapters. |
